Many begin musical training in childhood (10 years old in my case), but formal conservatoire study usually starts at age 18.
A typical path is a 4‑year Bachelor of Music, followed by a 1–2 year Master’s or postgraduate diploma, then 1–3 year Young Artist/Studio programmes at major houses.
Altogether, that’s roughly 6–9 years of full-time higher education and early career training—and most singers continue private coaching and language study throughout their careers.

Total per year: ≈ £40,800
